Interstate 80 and I have quite an intimate relationship. My grandparents would host the family reunions and driving back and forth from California to Utah was a yearly adventure. I also graduated from BYU in Provo, UT and had a short, but lovely stint in Salt Lake City. There’s a special place in my heart for Utah, even though anyone who knows me well, understands the inherent difficulty there…I absolutely hate the desert.
Lindsay’s been all over the place thanks to her college basketball career, but had never taken a road trip to Utah, so, when my cousin announced a family camp-out near Logan, UT, I was so excited! I wasn’t entirely sure how we’d be recieved, considering how untraditional our little family is, but it ended up being great. It was amazing to see family members I haven’t visited with for years, and it was really fun to show Lindsay around.
She really enjoyed downtown Salt Lake and Holladay (thank you Fred and Shane) and I was so stoked to go on my familiar run around campus and up the hill past the Provo temple (it totally kicked my butt, but I got all the way to the top!). Logan was nice and the camp spot, Tony Grove, was really lovely.
A big thanks to Mike and Dani for hosting and to all of my family for welcoming Lindsay so warmly!!! Can’t wait to do it again!
